Relay Detektion PHYSEC Guard

With PHYSEC GUARD we offer the pos­si­bi­li­ty to pro­tect your cus­to­mers from relay attacks and thus pre­vent theft, espio­na­ge and simi­lar. Our Relay-Detec­tion Sys­tem is uni­que on the mar­ket and pro­mi­ses hig­hest secu­ri­ty com­bi­ned with excel­lent per­for­mance. The solu­ti­on can be adap­ted to your chips fle­xi­b­ly. All we need is API access to your trans­mis­si­on chip. Our sys­tem can be imple­men­ted both with Blue­tooth and UWB. Our solu­ti­on is based on the uni­que varia­ti­on of the signal via the trans­mis­si­on chan­nel and the hard­ware. By reflec­tion and absorp­ti­on of the elec­tro­ma­gne­tic waves, the signal varies bet­ween the com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on part­ners in a way that can­not be repro­du­ced. Each chip and each device dif­fers mini­mal­ly in its phy­si­cal pro­per­ties. It is almost impos­si­ble to pro­du­ce two iden­ti­cal chips, which leads to indi­vi­du­al chan­ges in the trans­mis­si­on beha­viour of the chips. We use this beha­viour to take digi­tal fin­ger­prints and to pro­vi­de you with pas­si­ve dual authen­ti­ca­ti­on. Both methods use sta­te of the art machi­ne lear­ning algo­rith­ms, which allow such high levels of accu­ra­cy.

Increasing number of attacks

Keyless ent­ry sys­tems are beco­m­ing incre­a­singly popu­lar. Manu­fac­tu­rers and cus­to­mers pri­ma­ri­ly asso­cia­te com­fort, inno­va­ti­on and user-friend­li­ness with the eli­mi­na­ti­on of an addi­tio­nal key. Howe­ver, ope­ning the door without addi­tio­nal user inter­ac­tion also attracts unwan­ted intru­ders. Radio signals can be easi­ly trans­mit­ted, which leads to a rising num­ber of thefts. A report by ZDF shows how fast atta­ckers pro­ceed. Unfor­tu­n­a­te­ly, most secu­ri­ty mecha­nisms are useless to pre­vent the­se relay attacks.

Relay Attacks

Relay attacks are pas­si­ve man-in-the-midd­le attacks with the intent of bypas­sing authen­ti­ca­ti­on without local pro­xi­mi­ty. This makes typi­cal cryp­to­gra­phic methods of authen­ti­ca­ti­on and iden­ti­fi­ca­ti­on easy to over­co­me, as the legi­ti­ma­te par­ties assu­me that they are com­mu­ni­ca­ting among each other.

Our solu­ti­on is based on phy­si­cal chan­nel pro­per­ties and can the­re­fo­re be app­lied to dif­fe­rent radio com­mu­ni­ca­ti­on stan­dards, among others:
